What is art?

There are many different forms of art including: painting, sculpture, literature, architecture, music, dance, theater, photography, and films.
Art in Society
Art is very important in society. Art can influence people's thoughts, feelings, and actions. Therefore, it can be a catalyst of change in society. Art is represents the collective memory of a society. It often portrays and reflects on the thoughts, beliefs, morals, and challenges of that society.
History of Art
Humans have been creating art for thousands upon thousands of years. The earliest artworks that have been discovered are dated back around 40 have discovered are dated back from around 40,000 years ago. Historic art gives us a picture of what life was like at that time.
